Culture Recovery Fund.
As we come out of lockdown, we believe happiness should be at the heart of any recovery programme for teenagers.
The happier young people are, the better they'll be able to come to terms with the things they have lost to the pandemic, catch-up on their education, rebuild their friendships and regain their confidence.
That's why our work over the next few months will be rooted in happiness — exploring what it means and creating the conditions for our young people to experience it, together.
We will run a series of new projects in which our members — and hundreds of other young people across Islington — can have fun, play, interact and create. We will hang out, go on trips, make stuff, share stuff, stop rehearsing and just have a chat, eat pizza and dance. We will make space for young people to be themselves.
We will employ a whole load of freelance artists to help us do all of these things, and we will run paid training to help them reflect and develop their skills. And we will share what we learn — about teenagers, happiness and how to bring the two together — with the sector, our community and anyone else who wants to listen.
